Business Issue
A Chicago based security guard firm that
provides security services for trade shows at major convention centers we
developed a customer management system using Microsoft Office. The security
firm had to track guard hours, type of guard and guard post for billing
purposes. The security firm would manually log trade show guard information in
a notebook. Then when the show was finished the security firm would use
Microsoft Word to create an invoice and then log customer information in
Microsoft Excel. The security firm would spend a considerable amount of time
creating the invoice and logging customer information into Microsoft Excel. On
a occasion invoice items were over looked and they had to submit a second
invoice for the item.
Solution
Using Microsoft Excel we created a
spreadsheet that contained customer information, guard posts, guard hours and
tracked various billing information. In this spreadsheet we developed custom
code to calculate all billing information, take all of the customer information
and submit it into a Microsoft Access Database for customer tracking purposes
and then generate a Microsoft Word document with all the invoice
information.
